Happenings

A lot has been going on since I last blogged. We had to re-finance the house so that we could fix it up and get things up to code, like our plumbing, and our wiring,( which is a fire waiting to happen!!) So, we are here for the next 30 years, which I really did not want to do, but with my youngest step-daughter living so close with the grandbaby, and they are up here everyday, we thought it best to stay put. Besides, the baby's mom has decided to homeschool her when it comes time, but I suspect that I will be the one doing the homeschooling, as mom is ADHD, and has a reading disability.

As for other news, we are getting ready to go on vacation for the next 2 weeks, and I still have a lot to do, although I have gotten a lot done it seems like. I hadn't been to the Dentist in like 12 years, so I went and over a period of 2 weeks time I have gotten ALL of my dental work done, including a root canal retreatment. I finished up today with a cleaning! Tomorrow, I take the car and get it serviced so that it will be good for the vacation. And, I have had to get hearing aids, so I am still getting used to those!

And, bright and early Saturday morning we leave for Arkansas for 1 week, and then to the Missouri side of the Lake of the Ozarks for the 2nd week. I'll try to write about it when we get back.

I'M FAT!!!

I had to go today to buy a new pair of jeans so I could go riding on the motorcycle tomorrow, and I had to get a size 20! NEVER in my life have I been this heavy,NEVER!

Church Update!

Well, the Anglican church in our neighborhood wasn't working out for us. The priest that we liked died the day after we went there, and the other priest would not go on any other Sunday than what he was supposed to, so on Easter Sunday, that church was only going to have morning prayer, that was it! My husband did not like that idea, so we didn't go to church at all for quite a while, then the day after my nephew's wedding,( which was on St.Patrick's Day) we went to a Catholic Church that I had been to before, and still have friends that go there. Well, as you all know, I did not want to go back to the Catholic Church, and we AREN'T!! We finally decided to go to an Anglican Church that is over on the Kansas side and we really enjoy it.

In fact this morning we went to a membership class, and we will be doing a 10 week course called Alpha that starts on the 24th. This church still has the 1979 Prayer Book, but teaches scripture, which as you all know by now the Episcopal church has gotten away from.

My husband just refused to go back to the Baptist church, he wants a liturgical church, and this was the best compromise, we get preaching from the word of God, and we get communion every week.

We have found a Church!

As those of you who read this blog know, my husband and I have been going to the Episcopal Cathedral here in K.C. for 5 years now, yet with the changes the denomination is making we have not been happy there, as we are conservative and they are very Liberal. Anyway, we went to an Anglican church this past Sunday and really enjoyed it. It is a small church with no more than 20 people attending, if that. Right now they have 2 supply priests that take turns doing the services every other Sunday. The one that was there this Sunday is very nice, and would really like to be called as their full time Pastor, as he has plans for not only the church, but the Parish as well, and my husband and I both feel that we could be of more use to them than the Cathedral.

We do however, have an obligation to fulfill at the Cathedral this Sunday, and we will do that so as not to leave them in a lurch, but then we will turn in our resignations and leave.

Q&A

I don't know how to put up any questions that I get, so I will have to look at them, then answer in a post.

Connie asked if I was going to look into the teachings of the Catholic Church with my husband.
Well, I was raised in the Catholic Church and I left after starting to read a Bible my Grandmother had, and in my reading, as I was reading the Ten Commandments, of course I read where it said we should have no other gods before us, that we should not worship any other gods, other than the One True God. I read that, and realized that the Catholic Church was doing the exact opposite of Scripture said, so therefore I left. I have been to a few funerals that were held in Catholic Church's,mainly because I had no choice. They were for my Parent's and an Aunt, all Catholic. As I have stated on Candy's blog and my own, my husband and I now go to the Episcopal Church which, if you have been watching, now has a woman as Presiding Bishop, who by the way is O.K. with gay marriage and ordaining gays into the ministry.

I would like to go to the Anglican Church, which does not believe in any of that! The Anglicans do believe in the King James Bible, and do not agree with gay marriage or ordaining gays into the ministry. And as far as I know, do not worship Mary or the saints like the Catholics. I may have to check into that one!

SNOWY!!

We got about 3 to 4 inches of snow yesterday, and it is still cold, but is supposed to warm up to about 37 degrees today, so it will start melting, then refreeze tonight, and re-melt tomorrow, and so on for a few days.

Some of our neighbors just to the East of us got a little more snow than we did, and we are all in the same county. And some South of us got a lot of snow. My Uncle who lives about 3 hours from us should have gotten about 14 to 18 inches. I might call him later this afternoon to see how much he got, and check to see if he is doing all right.

Whacky Weather

Well folks, we have some whacky weather coming in our area. Today it will get close to 70 degrees and tomorrow we are under a winter storm watch and on Thursday some of us will get snow. We have a big cold front coming in from Canada, so tonight we will get some rain, probably some freezing and drizzle, and then, like I said snow on Thursday. YUKKKKKK!!

Hubby and I will be going to church soon for our Thanksgiving Day Service and later we will be going to my brother's house for dinner.

Election Results

Some of you may have been watching our election results on the National News. For those of you who didn't see it or did not follow Missouri's results, here they are:

Claire McCaskill for Senator
The Stem Cell issue passed, just barely-Boo! As you know I DO NOT APPROVE OF THAT!!
The tobacco tax lost!
Our minimum wage increase passed: we are at $5.25 cents now, we will be going up to $6.50 an hour.

That's all I remember, but then again those were the important one's anyway.

Sorry it has been so long since last blog!

I'm sorry I haven't been blogging, there hasn't been much going on to blog about, until now.

As some of you know I live in the state of Missouri, and our election is coming up on Tuesday. As usual, our candidates try very hard to discredit each other through the media, and they usually do a very good job of it.
Well , this year, I have decided that I will not vote for the major candidates, because I am tired of the political backstabbing. There is a 3rd candidate on our ballot for Senator, someone that I have not even heard of, so I will vote for him, so that if anyone asks me who I voted for I can honestly say neither one one of the major ones.

We also have on our ballot the Stem Cell issue. I will vote AGAINST THAT!! I am totally against that whole issue.

We also have a tobacco tax issue on the ballot, which I will vote for, because as it is worded, If you do not use tobacco products, you do not pay the tax. Works for me!!

Getting back to the Stem Cell issue; Those of you who have been to this blog know that my husband and I go the Episcopal Church, and unfortunately our denomination is all for this research. My husband and I on the other hand do not agree with this at all!! We have never met an abortion that we liked.

Sampler is Finished

The Christmas Sampler I was working on is finally finished!! Yeah!! After working on it for nearly 3 years, I got it done on Thursday. Now it just needs to be cleaned and framed, and a friend of mine is going to that for me because if it were up to me to do, it would never get done. Now I have started on an Indian Lady picture. I started it yesterday, let's see how long that will take me to complete.

Finally!

Our insurance check finally came last week, and it was only enough to replace the computer and hubby's cold weather motorcycle suit. Bummer!! Hubby has already been looking at computers for us. We each have one, but the one that was stolen was not even a year old that Hubby gave to me when he got a new one to do his photography on. We are now sharing his new one! I have an old laptop that I can use, but it gets hot very quickly and has a tendency to shut off by itself, hence it does not do me much good.

Insurance adjuster finally came!!

Well, finally, after waiting for a week, the insurance adjuster finally came this afternoon. Now we have to fill out a bunch of papers, including one that lists everything that we lost, and then send it back in to him so he can do whatever it is that he has to do in order for us to get our money so we can start replacing some of this stuff! Long process!!

Our weekend was good, just hubby and I in the house. The kiddo's were at their mom's for the weekend. So now it is back to the daily grind. At least this year, we don't have to worry about trying to get kid's ready for school. The ones that count are all out, unless they're trying to get into college of some sort. We have a handicapped daughter that goes to State School and she starts next month, but with her handicap, she doesn't really learn anything at all. She doesn't have the brain function to learn. Half of her brain is normal size and the other half of her brain is about half the normal size. She had a stroke when she was 4, hence the retardation, both physical and mental. I think we still have to fill out all the paper work for school, but I don't have to do much to get her ready!

Well, I think I have to buy my daughter a pair of shoes, she ruined her last night at work. I better call her, then I NEED to go grocery shopping.

License renewed

I just got back a little bit ago from renewing my driver's license which had expired while we were on vacation.

Still no call from the insurance adjuster. Sure wish he would call soon, my daughter had some money stolen also and she wants it back so she can get her car legal. I sure would like to get my laptop replaced soon also. That would really help with my business, as I do my ordering of my product online. Whoever broke into our house, also stole my starter kit with all of my class supplies in it, which I am not pleased about at all. Well, maybe the adjuster will call soon, I hope.

It's HOT

Our temperature here is supposed to hit 104 with a heat index of 115 today!! That's HOT, and I don't like the humidity.

Just read Candi's blog from www.keepingthehome.com. Very interesting if you are a christian, which I hope a lot of us are. I have been a member of the Episcopal Church for 4and 1/2 years, and frankly I am getting tired of their liberal views and the direction in which the denomination is going. If any one has not been keeping up with it, our General Convention was last month, and they voted in a very liberal woman to be our next presiding Bishop. She is all for the blessing of same sex unions and for ordaining active homosexuals into the ministy. I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS!! I have taken Candi's suggestion about reading the KJV of the Bible. I don't always get to read every day, but when I do read it, I read several chapters at a time. It is so much better than any of the other versions, although my husband prefers the NIV. I wish I could get him to go to another church, but he likes the liturgy and recieving communion every Sunday. I have told him we could go to a Catholic Church, but lately I have been wanting to go back to a conservate Baptist church, or just not go to church at all. I am beginning to not like organized religion. They all have some kind of problem to deal with, and can't seem to just trust in God's word and let the Lord direct them anymore. It is very frustrating, to say the least!!

So far today I have done my dishes,and tried to mop my kitchen floor some before our insurance adjuster comes. When we were on vacation, our house was broken into and my laptop and some DVD's were stolen. I am just waiting on the adjuster to call to let me know he is on the way over to take a look at things. I still need to do some picking up.

I also just took my stepson and his girlfriend to a movie theater so they could see a movie. Neither one of them drives as yet.
