FEELING BETTER

I'm feeling better today! I started feeling somewhat better yesterday afternoon, I did manage to fix dinner and I was able to eat dinner. I fixed a somewhat traditional New Years dinner of Ham, Black-eyed Peas, and I fixed Corn. It really tasted good. And I have enough Ham left to get 2 or 3 more meals out of it.

I have a subscription to Netflix and hubby gets on there and adds movies that he wants to see, and then of course moves them to the top of the list, so day before yesterday we got the Librarian, and so we sat and watched it last night. It is a take off of Indiana Jones. It was pretty good, I enjoyed it.

I HAVE A STOMACH VIRUS

I got sick last night, all of a sudden. I was fine at 4:30 in the afternoon, I was at the grocery store getting a few things we needed, and by 7:00 I was in the bathroom throwing up and I had diarrhea. I threw up off and on last night, I think I'm done, but I'm not sure. Hubby says he heard this junk comes on suddenly and last for 12 to 24 hours( the vomiting and diarrhea), and the entire illness lasts from 2 to 5 days. I couldn't even pick hubby up from work last night, one of his co-workers brought him home.

Well, I'm going back to bed, I don't want to stray to far from the bathroom.

BACKGROUNDS ON MY BLOG!

Now that I have figured out how to change the background on my blog, I may change it with the holidays/seasons. So, on Friday, I may change it again until Valentines Day, when it will get changed again, until the next holiday, so on and so forth. I plan on having fun with my background. So enjoy!

As soon as I figure out to post photos, I will!

I DID IT!

I got it! Cool Background, huh!

7 YEARS AND COUNTING!

My husband, Virgil and I have been married for 7 years today, and still going strong!
We were married in the chapel at the hospital where he works. A friend of his from the Disciples Church performed the ceremony. It was so pretty, as the chapel was still decorated from Christmas. All but 1 of the children were there. In fact, Virgil's oldest daughter is from Omaha, and she came down for Christmas, went home, and came back down for the wedding. The only kid missing was Virgil's oldest son, as he forgot, after having been told about it on Christmas Day.

FLANNEL SHEETS

I LOVE flannel sheets! And I have some that I have gotten from Walmart, but lately, I have gotten some from QVC called Northern Nights. Those sheets are so warm and soft! I now have 3 sets and plan on buying more as I am able. I don't sweat in these sheets like I have in other flannels. I highly recommend Northern Nights Flannel sheets from QVC. They will have an odor when you take them out of the packaging, but once you wash them, it goes away.
Give them a try, I think you will love them as much as I do.

FIREFOX THEMES

Hubby and I use Firefox as our browser, and this morning we got to playing around with their themes. Someone put up a Bible theme for Firefox in 2 different colors which I think are really cool looking, so right now I'm using the blue colored one. It looks so pretty! It uses Christian symbols!

If you use Firefox, go to your bookmarks, then go to Mozilla Firefox, then click on Customize Firefox, scroll down the page to Themes, and click on that, and you are good to go. They have 18 pages of themes to choose from. Now if you do go with one, you will have to restart Firefox. then go to your Tools, then click on Add-Ons, and you should be good to go. If you have trouble, find someone that knows how to do it. I usually have to have my husband help me with stuff like that.

We had some some thunderstorms last night, and heavy rains. Lost power also, twice. Of course it did get to 68 degrees yesterday afternoon. ( It is now 32 degrees.) Hubby had reset the clock from the first time, and when we woke up this morning, the power was out again. It finally came back on about 10:30 a.m. our time.(CST) It is times like this morning when I wish I had a regular corded telephone instead of cordless, and a wood burning fireplace, and I really wish we were still allowed to use the old fashioned gas lights. I have a gas stove, so I was able to fix breakfast. I also have a percolator that we use when we go camping, so I was also able to fix some coffee. Winter time, don't you just love it?!

The Day After Christmas!

We had a lovely day yesterday, hectic, but nice. The grandkids opened their presents over here, which was nice. We didn't get anyone anything, because we just could not afford it, so we basically had a Dickens "Christmas Carol" Christmas, and I LOVED IT!
I didn't bother trying to clean the kitchen last night, and I have been running around today, so I didn't do any until this evening, and I had my son help with what I did get done, I'll finish the rest tomorrow.

Hubby and I went looking at cars today at Carmax. Did not end up getting anything, can't afford to! Oh Well!

I did fix homemade buttermilk pancakes on Christmas morning, boy were they good. I'm going to make some again tomorrow morning.

ALL IS WELL!

We are surviving with a 2 year old in the house (Just barely)! I had forgotten what it was like, I got a very quick and REAL reminder. That kid has got the TERRIBLE TWO'S worse than I have seen in any child!! And whine, oh my goodness, can she whine, and cry. My nerves are frazzled by the end of some days.

Her dad has said that she can go home today, but with the weather the way it is right now, we'll have to see, they have no heat in their apartment, although they did get a heater until they can get their gas turned back on. A space heater! I'm not sure I want her around that. Like I said, we'll see.

We plan on taking our annual Plaza Light trip on this Saturday. That is always fun. I'll go to Topsy's and get a can of popcorn.

PLEASE PRAY FOR US!

Hubby and I have "Pinky" for a while. We ended up with her on Thanksgiving night, due to a problem with her parents. We are really enjoying having her back in the house. She is talking, somewhat. You can understand alot of what she says, yet, there are some things you still can't understand.
Needless to say, our bedroom cleaning is on hold for now, because she is in our room on her mattress on the floor in front of our closet, because I have to clean her old bedroom. Life with a 2 year old.
I am asking for prayers with this situation, her other Grandmother may try and get custody of her, and her parents DO NOT want that to happen. This woman actually kidnapped Pinky on Christmas night 2 years ago, after getting into a fight with the parents and kicking them out of her car, in the middle of nowhere. Then on Thursday, she told the mother that she wasn't getting "Pinky" back. This woman is crazy!

Doing some cleaning!

Hubby and I are cleaning our bedroom. You can see the carpet now, and can tell what colors are in it. The room does look much better.

In other news, we are going out for Thanksgiving Dinner.

Homeschooling

I am a BIG believer in Homeschooling, hence I have put up a homeschooling list. This is a list of sites that I like to look at, and, Yes, I included Lamplighter Publishing because I feel that Christians should read good books from other centuries, and that is where Lamplighter comes in.

STILL AROUND!

I am still here, just not spending a lot of time on the computer anymore. I check my e-mail, the blogs I like, the news, and maybe I'll play a couple of games on Pogo, but that's about it anymore. I've been reading alot lately. I just finished a series of books by Beverly Lewis called the Courtship of Nellie Fisher. It's set in Amish country. That was a good series. Now, i'm ready to start a couple of books by Lamplighter called Ishmael and Self-Raised. Ishmael is first, then Self-Raised.

I have several books by Lamplighter Publishing that I really have enjoyed. I am a member of the PickWick book club that they have, which means I get a new Rare Collector's book when it comes out, and all I pay is the cost of the book, NO S/H. That is a good deal. Hopefully, I should be getting a couple from the book club soon. Also, for every 5th book, you get a certificate for a FREE book worth up to $26.00. For that you have to pay shipping. That is not bad at all!

UPDATES

I should have done this last week, but I didn't. I finally heard from the Arthritis doctor's office. All the blood work came back O.K., except for the RA factor, which is just below where it belongs. They like for that factor to be 14 or below, and mine is below, but just barely. Mine is at 13!

Still another Sunday, and we did not get up to go to church, of course it is still early here, and I may try to go to the Missionary Baptist church that I was baptized in many years ago. We'll just have to see, as I do have a lot of things that need to be done. I have not done any dishes in like 2 days because I have been hurting so much that I haven't felt like doing anything.

My hubby wrote a letter to the Owner of the company that was working on our house and told him everything that still needs to be done, and redone, and so forth. I know they had to have gotten that letter, but we have not heard a word from anyone.
My brother is going to come over this afternoon and look at the bathroom on the first floor, and tell us what we need to get, and he will help us finish it at least, so that I can have this bathroom, so that when I am feeling bad, I don't have to try and go up the stairs to the bathroom on the second floor.

I would like some opinions here. I have been looking into doing an internal Body Cleansing and Detox. What do you think, should I or not? I think if I tell my doctor that I want to do this, he will tell me NO, but if I ignore his advise and go ahead with it, I might just feel better and maybe be able to get off of half of the medications I'm on.
