I LOVE flannel sheets! And I have some that I have gotten from Walmart, but lately, I have gotten some from QVC called Northern Nights. Those sheets are so warm and soft! I now have 3 sets and plan on buying more as I am able. I don't sweat in these sheets like I have in other flannels. I highly recommend Northern Nights Flannel sheets from QVC. They will have an odor when you take them out of the packaging, but once you wash them, it goes away.
Give them a try, I think you will love them as much as I do.
Hubby and I use Firefox as our browser, and this morning we got to playing around with their themes. Someone put up a Bible theme for Firefox in 2 different colors which I think are really cool looking, so right now I'm using the blue colored one. It looks so pretty! It uses Christian symbols!
If you use Firefox, go to your bookmarks, then go to Mozilla Firefox, then click on Customize Firefox, scroll down the page to Themes, and click on that, and you are good to go. They have 18 pages of themes to choose from. Now if you do go with one, you will have to restart Firefox. then go to your Tools, then click on Add-Ons, and you should be good to go. If you have trouble, find someone that knows how to do it. I usually have to have my husband help me with stuff like that.
We had some some thunderstorms last night, and heavy rains. Lost power also, twice. Of course it did get to 68 degrees yesterday afternoon. ( It is now 32 degrees.) Hubby had reset the clock from the first time, and when we woke up this morning, the power was out again. It finally came back on about 10:30 a.m. our time.(CST) It is times like this morning when I wish I had a regular corded telephone instead of cordless, and a wood burning fireplace, and I really wish we were still allowed to use the old fashioned gas lights. I have a gas stove, so I was able to fix breakfast. I also have a percolator that we use when we go camping, so I was also able to fix some coffee. Winter time, don't you just love it?!
We had a lovely day yesterday, hectic, but nice. The grandkids opened their presents over here, which was nice. We didn't get anyone anything, because we just could not afford it, so we basically had a Dickens "Christmas Carol" Christmas, and I LOVED IT!
I didn't bother trying to clean the kitchen last night, and I have been running around today, so I didn't do any until this evening, and I had my son help with what I did get done, I'll finish the rest tomorrow.
Hubby and I went looking at cars today at Carmax. Did not end up getting anything, can't afford to! Oh Well!
I did fix homemade buttermilk pancakes on Christmas morning, boy were they good. I'm going to make some again tomorrow morning.
From my family to yours, Have a Blessed Christmas Day!
Steven is 23 years old today!
"Pinky" went home yesterday, it is so quiet! Now maybe, I can get some cleaning done!
My son's birthday is Sunday, he'll be 23. Boy, do I feel old!
We are surviving with a 2 year old in the house (Just barely)! I had forgotten what it was like, I got a very quick and REAL reminder. That kid has got the TERRIBLE TWO'S worse than I have seen in any child!! And whine, oh my goodness, can she whine, and cry. My nerves are frazzled by the end of some days.
Her dad has said that she can go home today, but with the weather the way it is right now, we'll have to see, they have no heat in their apartment, although they did get a heater until they can get their gas turned back on. A space heater! I'm not sure I want her around that. Like I said, we'll see.
We plan on taking our annual Plaza Light trip on this Saturday. That is always fun. I'll go to Topsy's and get a can of popcorn.
Hubby and I have "Pinky" for a while. We ended up with her on Thanksgiving night, due to a problem with her parents. We are really enjoying having her back in the house. She is talking, somewhat. You can understand alot of what she says, yet, there are some things you still can't understand.
Needless to say, our bedroom cleaning is on hold for now, because she is in our room on her mattress on the floor in front of our closet, because I have to clean her old bedroom. Life with a 2 year old.
I am asking for prayers with this situation, her other Grandmother may try and get custody of her, and her parents DO NOT want that to happen. This woman actually kidnapped Pinky on Christmas night 2 years ago, after getting into a fight with the parents and kicking them out of her car, in the middle of nowhere. Then on Thursday, she told the mother that she wasn't getting "Pinky" back. This woman is crazy!
I hope everyone has a nice and relaxing day!
Hubby and I are cleaning our bedroom. You can see the carpet now, and can tell what colors are in it. The room does look much better.
In other news, we are going out for Thanksgiving Dinner.
I am a BIG believer in Homeschooling, hence I have put up a homeschooling list. This is a list of sites that I like to look at, and, Yes, I included Lamplighter Publishing because I feel that Christians should read good books from other centuries, and that is where Lamplighter comes in.
I am still here, just not spending a lot of time on the computer anymore. I check my e-mail, the blogs I like, the news, and maybe I'll play a couple of games on Pogo, but that's about it anymore. I've been reading alot lately. I just finished a series of books by Beverly Lewis called the Courtship of Nellie Fisher. It's set in Amish country. That was a good series. Now, i'm ready to start a couple of books by Lamplighter called Ishmael and Self-Raised. Ishmael is first, then Self-Raised. I have several books by Lamplighter Publishing that I really have enjoyed. I am a member of the PickWick book club that they have, which means I get a new Rare Collector's book when it comes out, and all I pay is the cost of the book, NO S/H. That is a good deal. Hopefully, I should be getting a couple from the book club soon. Also, for every 5th book, you get a certificate for a FREE book worth up to $26.00. For that you have to pay shipping. That is not bad at all!
MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON THIS COUNTRY!
Have you? Please do so! And, you know what, if nothing else, vote your conscious.
I should have done this last week, but I didn't. I finally heard from the Arthritis doctor's office. All the blood work came back O.K., except for the RA factor, which is just below where it belongs. They like for that factor to be 14 or below, and mine is below, but just barely. Mine is at 13! Still another Sunday, and we did not get up to go to church, of course it is still early here, and I may try to go to the Missionary Baptist church that I was baptized in many years ago. We'll just have to see, as I do have a lot of things that need to be done. I have not done any dishes in like 2 days because I have been hurting so much that I haven't felt like doing anything. My hubby wrote a letter to the Owner of the company that was working on our house and told him everything that still needs to be done, and redone, and so forth. I know they had to have gotten that letter, but we have not heard a word from anyone. My brother is going to come over this afternoon and look at the bathroom on the first floor, and tell us what we need to get, and he will help us finish it at least, so that I can have this bathroom, so that when I am feeling bad, I don't have to try and go up the stairs to the bathroom on the second floor. I would like some opinions here. I have been looking into doing an internal Body Cleansing and Detox. What do you think, should I or not? I think if I tell my doctor that I want to do this, he will tell me NO, but if I ignore his advise and go ahead with it, I might just feel better and maybe be able to get off of half of the medications I'm on.
I just finished watching the third party Presidential debate from C-Span. It was very interesting! The only candidates participating were Chuck Baldwin and Ralph Nadar. I had to watch it from the website. If you choose to do that, look under video archives.
I had a bone density scan done today, and it showed significant bone loss in my lower spine, and I'm on the verge of Osteoperosis. Going to start taking Calcium with vitamin D.I have learned something about the Fibromyalgia, DO NOT USE ARTIFICIAL SWEETNER! It makes the symptoms worse. The arthritis doctor had some blood work done, and one of the things he is looking for is Rhumatiod Arthritis. No word yet on the results.I will update when necassary!
I went to the Arthritis Doctor this afternoon, and he seems to think that I have Fibromyalgia, although, I do not get the headaches that are associated with it. Personally, I think all my problems are stemming from all the blasted medicine I'm on.
I have been thinking about family television lately, and the fact that there is nothing decent to watch these days on the "Boob Tube" as I like to call it. However, there are decent programs if you wish to go back 20 to 30 years. My son and I have been watching "The Walton's" lately, as I have bought seasons 1,2,3 and 5, so far. And, yesterday, I sat and watched an entire episode on you tube. There is also "Little House on the Prairie" which I also liked to watch when I was a girl. These are very good family programs.
I had my Drs. appointment this afternoon, and he wants me to see another doctor, an arthritis doctor as I do have arthritis in my back. And my Dr. mis-spoke when he told me that I had a partially collapsed disc, it is a partially collapsed vertebrae. No wonder it hurts! He forgot about the Bone Density this week, so I will have that done in 2 weeks. I am also on a different Cholestrol medication, as I cannot take Lipitor. That's what was giving me the Vertigo symptoms. I feel much better without that. I go back to my Doctor in 2 weeks.
